Birkdale

Birkdale is a suburb located approximately 21km south east of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, within the Redland City local government area. Birkdale was named in 1880 by local landowner William Thorne after his birthplace, Birkdale in England. In the 1920s, poultry was a major industry in Birkdale.

Birkdale hugs the foreshore of the Redlands mainland between Thorneside to the west and Wellington Point to the east and boasts long foreshore parks, barbecues, playgrounds and walking and cycling paths. Birkdale is also home to Aquatic Paradise, one of the Redland's two canal developments which is popular amongst local yacht owners who can store their craft next to their own personal pontoons. Combined with other new residential developments, Birkdale offers a range of lifestyle choices to suit all tastes.

Birkdale Gardens and Birkdale Fair shopping centres offer a wide range of shopping choices and the larger business and shopping area of Capalaba is just a few minutes drive away.
